Well, it’s been one whole year since my last rant when encountering public ignorance but this morning really did take the biscuit. Therefore, my ‘Award for Outstanding Moronic Arrogance 2014′ goes to Dr Pugh of the Long Ashton Surgery. Not content with having to wait 45 minutes to see her after booking an appointment, I told her my reason for being there and she scoffed ” You’ve come to see me about THAT?! This is an emergency surgery you know!”. The fact that I needed swift attention to a problem and medication before the end of the day meant nothing to her at all apparently. I further explained ” the last time I needed same day medication, the doctor took 4 days to even sign the prescription, so I have to come and see you I’m afraid!” . She muttered haughtily about me being the one to slip through the net and refused to afford me any more time. Point here; I do not live in the doctors… like most people , I loathe the place. I will only go if I’m really stuck and need medication I can’t buy “off the shelf”. Secondly, and very worryingly, this GP has just been taken on as a partner at that surgery. With that kind of approach, half of Long Ashton will be dropping like flies left , right and centre. Thirdly, it wasn’t an ’emergency surgery’, it was a one hour walk-in lunchtime thingy where people are slotted in around other appointments. Unfortunately, this GP is going to get some seriously bad press. It also goes to show that there are sadly some ‘professionals’ out there whose whole raison d’etre for becoming a so-called doctor is to belittle those very people they’re meant to be helping ( and who incidentally pay their wages). Rant over for this year!
